An astute Liberian legal practitioner Cllr. Arthur T. Johnson with twenty-five years of experience in criminal law, criminal justice and international and diplomatic studies has been given the greenlight to practice before the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands and all International Criminal Tribunals.
Cllr. Arthur T. Johnson was cleared to practice before the Courts as defense lawyer by the Association of Defense Counselor practicing before the International Courts and Tribunals.
As evidence of the Cllr. Johnson’s admission, he was given a certificate of Good Standing by the Association dated on April 18, 2024 and by signed by Dominic Kennedy, Head of Office, ADC-ICT.
The certificate states “Cllr. Arthur T. Johnson is admitted as Full Member in Good Standing of the ADC-ICT, pursuant to ADC-ICT constitution, Article13.2. This Member has not been subject to any disciplinary proceedings and has no outstanding financial obligations to the Association. It further states “This certificate is valid until 31 December2024.
Following his admission, Cllr. Johnson said he was happed for been admitted at the International Criminal Court and all other tribunals to practice but look forward to see many Liberian before that Court.
With Cllr. Arthur Johnson’s admission, it brings the number to two Liberian lawyers that are practicing before the International Criminal Court as former Solicitor General Cllr. Sayma Syrenius Cephus been the first lawyer to be admitted.
It took Cllr. Johnson five years before the Association of Defense Counsel practicing before the International Courts and Tribunals (ADC-ICT) could endorsed him as member of the institution after he applied in 2019.
Cllr. Arthur Johnson is currently served as an Assistant Professor of Law at Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia where teach criminal law and criminal procedure to aspiring lawyers and also the Dean and Professor at Wilfred E. Clarke College of Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Administration, AME Zion University.
The Association of Defense Counsel practicing before the International Courts and Tribunals (ADC-ICT) is an independent professional association established under the laws of The Netherlands and based in The Hague. Until 2016, the Association was called the Association of Defense Counsel practicing before the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ADC-ICTY).
