UP’s Boakai, Others bid Farewell to fallen PLP Political Leader Dr. Cassell in the U.S.
Former Vice President and Standard Bearer of Liberia’s main opposition Unity Party(UP), Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai (JNB), was over the weekend among a horde of sympathizers, including Liberians in the Diaspora and family members of the deceased, who turned out at the funeral service of Dr. Daniel Cassell, to bid Farewell to the fallen political leader of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP).
Dr. Cassell died at 53, reportedly of heart attack on Christmas Day last year, at his residence in the United States.
He was a Physiologist by profession and behavioral specialist consultant, and worked and lived in the U.S. for years, establishing his company, Kwenyan Professional Health Services in that part of the world, prior to returning to Liberia to organize the PLP which he headed as its Political Leader and Standard Bearer before his demise.
The funeral service over the remains of Dr. Cassell, was held at the Victory Harvest International Church in Southwest Philadelphia, the United States.
Ambassador Boakai described the demise of Dr. Cassell as an irreparable loss, indicating that the PLP Political Leader had huge potential.
“Today, I joined sympathizers to mourn the irreparable loss of a young man with huge potential, the Vision Bearer of People’s Liberation Party Dr. Daniel Cassell at the Victory Harvest International Church in Southwest Philadelphia, USA,” the UP Standard Bearer wrote on his official Facebook handle, minutes after Dr. Cassell’s remains were interred.
He reiterated his deepest sympathy to the Cassell family, the fallen PLP man’s supporters, partisans, and well-wishers for what the UP Standard Bearer termed as a great loss.
However, JNB emphasized that, “The dream of a better Liberia is alive; the mission to rescue our dear country shall not die!”
A fortnight ago at the PLP’s Sinkor Headquarters in Monrovia, it can be recalled, JNB, while signing the book of condolence of Dr. Cassdell, asserted that the deceased had a clear view of what Liberia is going through.
“Dr. Cassell built an institution,” said former Vice President Boakai, who added that prior to his death, the PLP Standard Bearer was determined and always consulted to catch up on issues regarding Liberia.
On behalf of the Unity Party and his family, Ambassador Boakai, at the time expressed sympathy for the passing of the PLP Political Leader, pointing out that Dr. Cassell would be missed by many.
“We all will miss him,” the Unity Party Standard Bearer Boakai, said of the fallen PLP man.
Earlier, the National Chairman of the People’s Liberation Party, Mr. Taplah Doe informed Ambassador Boakai that Dr. Cassel came back to foster his dream of transforming Liberia, because according to him, the country is in a terrible state.
Mr. Doe emphasized that the PLP will work with like-minded Liberians to achieve the dreams of its deceased Founder and Standard Bearer, Dr. Cassell.
The PLP Chairman then lavished praises on Ambassador Boakai, saying if he (Boakai) wanted to get rich at the expense of the Liberian people he would have gotten rich.
As a traditional Uncle to Dr. Cassell, the PLP looks forward to a good working relationship with the Standard Bearer of the UP, Ambassador Boakai, a statement from the Office of the former VP indicated at the time.
Those present at the signing of the book of condolence from the PLP included Mr. Taplah Doe, National Chairman; Mr. Daniel Gayou, National Secretary General; Mr. Kalifal Kromah, Vice Chair for Media Relations; Madam Snob Jabbah, Women Assembly Charlady; and Pascal Bahntee, Assistant Secretary General for Press and Publicity.
