The National Elections Commission (NEC) is warning citizens against registering more than once in the ongoing Biometric Voter Registration (BVR).

NEC, in a press release on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, said it is a crime and that anyone caught will be reported to the Justice Ministry for prosecution.
The release added that any registrant involved in duplicate registration will have to ratify the issue with the Commission before the person’s information can be included on the voter registration roll.
It further maintained that all data from voter registration centers in the six counties where the BVR exercise is ongoing will be synchronized through the biometric servers to begin the duplication system process.
The Commission emphasized that the system is efficient as comparing millions of biometric samples, which will facilitate the detection of any duplicate registration across NEC database of registered voters.
