LIBERIA: UP SAYS BOIKAI IS ON ECOWAS SUB-REGION TOUR, NOT HEALTH TRIP
Amid mounting health concerns and rumours of a new deteriorating health condition of former Vice President and Standard Bearer of the former Unity Party (UP) Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., the party has promptly responded.
It was widely circulated on various media platforms, especially on Facebook that the former Vice President had fallen prey to new illness. It could be recalled that Mr. Boakai, some months away to the political campaign, who had battled illness and on separate occasions, had to fly to the United States of America (USA) for treatment.
However, amid the rumours that cloudy Facebook pages, the UP, through its National Campaign Spokesman, Mo Ali, indicated that contrary to those reports, the former Vice President is on an impromptu trip in the ECOWAS Sub-Region for three days.
“The Standard Bearer of the Unity Party, Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has made an impromptu trip in the ECOWAS Sub-Region for three days,” said the UP statement.
“In view of the above, the Montserrado District tour involving the Standard Bearer is hereby suspended for the same period of days. The Montserrado Campaign Team in collaboration with the UP Montserrado Leadership will reschedule the tour for the remaining districts,’’ the statement stated.
Meanwhile, the campaign will continue with the same vigor throughout the country,” added the party.
