The National Elections Commission in Liberia has announced 98.4% of the votes cast in the 2023 presidential and legislative elections with the two biggest political rivals at neck to neck.
George Weah has obtained 791,661 votes so far and Joseph Boakai has obtained 786,205 votes representing respectively 43.79% and 43.49% of the votes cast.
The total votes obtained by both candidates is 1,577,866 votes, the total number of voters registered is 2,471,617 voters and 342,775 invalid votes, making it the number of votes counted 1,920,641 votes representing 77.7% of the total votes.
Liberians have again showed to the world that democracy can be applied to the letter in this West African nation by voting massively without any significant incident.
