187

The Plenary of the Liberian Senate has obtained a unanimous vote to cite Public Works Minister, Ruth Coker-Collins, Public Procurement Concession Commission (PCC), Authorities of the National Road Fund and all Chief executive Officers of companies that have received contracts from the Government of Liberia regarding roads rehabilitation and maintenance across the country.

The authorities of aforementioned Government’s Agencies and those companies will appear before the Senate Committee of a Whole on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 to respond to Senate’s inquest as to why contracts awarded those companies have not been fully implemented, as roads remain deplorable across the country.

According to a press release from the Liberian Senate, the Senate’s decision was triggered by an issue raised by Sinoe County Senator J. Milton Teahjay, alarming the deplorable condition of roads across the country, even though according to him companies have allegedly received monies for contracts they received from Government for the rehabilitation of roads especially in the South Eastern Region.

The Companies, the release says, includes Desire, Millennium , SSF, Prime Plus , JD Construction Company, Fultsure Builders, as well as Chen Construction Company.

The release states that all other companies that have also received contracts from Government but were not mention are also expected to appear.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Senate is requesting all those companies which have been cited to present all necessary documentations regarding their contracts before the Liberian Senate on or before Monday, July 10, 2023 so as to place the Senate in an informed position before their appearances on Tuesday.
