‘‘We, the People’s Liberation Party(PLP), through its National Executive Committee have resolved in fulfillment of the ideologies of our party which is built on Democratic Nationalism. The People’s Liberation Party, as a political party is rooted in the basic tenants of love for country and prioritizing the interest of country and citizens over political party and special interest groups,’’ the PLP stated in a resolution.
‘’We believe in the protection of the rights and equality of all persons, irrespective of their gender, religion, tribe, county of origin, political party, socio-economic status, etc. We subscribe to the core believe of nation building through unification of all citizens of Liberia despite our diversities.’’
‘‘Hence, we, the PLP have resolved to withdraw our membership from the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) effective immediately after meeting our obligations in supporting H.E. Dr. George M. Weah in the October 10, 2023 Presidential Elections. We want to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to H. E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, Standard Bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change and its CDC leadership. We want to thank all of our partisans including Chairpersons, supporters and partisans across the length and breadth of the Republic of Liberia for their unwavering support during the period of our relationship with the CDC,’’; the PLP pointed out in the resolution.
Following the conclusion of the 2023 elections and the concession of CDC Standard Bearer, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, ‘‘we, as a party into the coalition, met and reviewed the agreement binding us into the coalition and the forward march for our party in regards to our independence and the way forward.’’
‘‘We resolved that in order for the PLP to recalibrate and reorganize all of its structures across the country, there is a need to maintain our independence to operate as a registered political party with all rights restore under the electoral laws of Liberia and the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia.’’
Therefore, the People’s Liberation Party has withdrawn from the Coalition for Democratic Change to prepare itself for the 2029 Presidential and Legislative Elections; We are stronger together as partners and therefore, we will explore future alliance with any political party that share our values and beliefs.
‘’Fellow partisans and Liberians alike, we want to take this time as well as to thank the peace loving people of Liberia for demonstrating patriotism in protecting the peace, stability and security of our beloved nation during and after the elections. As you all know, Liberia is bigger than any one of us and therefore, we would like to extend congratulatory messages to H. E. President Joseph Nyumah Boakai and H. E. Z. Jeremiah Kpaan Koung, President and Vice President respectively of the Republic of Liberia for their resounding and outstanding victory in the 2023 E00lections. Finally, and in conclusion of the above, we are calling on our respective County Chairpersons to remain resolute and engage with their National Leadership as we seek a better path for the PLP,’’ the PLP added in its resolution.
