In the quest of offering quality education to the counrty , the Government of Liberia (GoL) through the National Commission Higher Education (NCHE) has accredited the Modern University College (MUC).
Situated in the Zubah Community in Paynesville, outside Monrovia, MUC was established few years back buttress government’s effort in meeting the educational needs of Liberians by creating an environment in which students can attain a variety of goals with outstanding faculty and staff in their specialized field of study with industrial experience.
Speaking at the weekend at occasion marking students’ orientation, the Assistant Representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, Madam Thelma Dhan Debrah urged students to be more studius, accountable and transparent irrespective of whatever situation.
Madam Debrah, who served as guest speaker at the program, said integrity and transparency are key pillars that all students should build their educational journey on as it would lead them into the job market.
“Integrity, and transparency are important to any students, because after you have completed your higher education you will go into the larger society and what ever you practice will rest on your shoulder,” she indicated.
“Your journey starts now and after completing your search for higher education you will be judged by these simple steps which are intrergrity and Transparency”.
The FAO Assistant Representatives for Administration is at the same time calling on students to take computer literacy very seriously as it serves as the major conduit to today’s market.
She also encouraged the students to compete with other students in the sub-region in other to be on top of their studies and to make Liberia proud among the West African nations.
Giving an overview of the institution earlier, the Board Chair of MUC Rev. Jomah Woiwor, explained that the dream started few years ago with the desire of helping National Government in other to provide quality reforms and better learning environment fir then students of Liberia.
According to Rev.Jomah Woiwor began to venture into education in order to hep educate the general public with some of the best programs in Liberia.
He disclosed that the institution as a certificate associate degree granting institution; however, through collective efforts, the School had been granted full degree granting status in the areas of Education, Hospital Administration, Gender Studies, Allied Sciences, Business and Information Technology.
“We have met all of the requirements of the National Commission on Higher Education and we are now among the 18 top Universities in Liberia. This was done through the efforts of all of the faculty members and staff of this great Institution.”
Rev. Waiwor believes that if the institutions and students hold values, the education sector will get better some day.
