The Minister of the Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism(MICAT), Ledgerhood Julius Rennie, has described as a big boost the endorsement by 56 Lawmakers of the re-election bid of President George Manneh Weah
On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, 56 Lawmakers from both Houses of the Liberian Legislature endorsed and reaffirmed support to the second term bid of President Weah, ahead of October 10, 2023 Presidential and Legislative Elections.

The endorsement and reaffirmation program of President Weah by the 56 Legislators was exciting as partisans and supporters of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change(CDC) gathered to cheer statements from the new supporters of the second term bid of the President as well as the reaffirmation of constituent members.

Responding to the endorsement and reaffirmation from the 56 Lawmakers, President Weah expressed profound gratitude and an unwavering belief in the shared vision of the party as he wholeheartedly accept the resounding endorsement and reaffirmation of his candidacy for re-election as the President of the Republic of Liberia.

He added that the fact that the entire membership of the Legislative Caucus of the CDC, representing a significant percentage of the membership of the 54th Legislature of the Republic of Liberia, is standing behind his leadership and candidacy in the upcoming elections, fills him with immense pride, citing that the endorsement is not just a seal of approval for their policies and programs; but also a testament to their unwavering commitment to the Liberian people.

He used the occasion to welcome all of the newcomers who have chosen to join the Coalition for Democratic Change, citing “I extend a warm welcome. The CDC is not merely a political party; it is a beacon of hope and progress for all Liberians. Within our ranks, there is space for every citizen, regardless of their party affiliation. Together, we will build a stronger and more prosperous Liberia”.

Accordingly, addressing the MICAT regular press briefing on Thursday, June 15, 2023 in Monrovia, Minister Rennie pointed out that as the country moves towards the October 10 polls, the debate is narrowing regarding the said elections.
The MICAT boss, who said the endorsement by the 56 Lawmakers is a testimony of the quality of good works the President is doing, named pavement of roads, construction of schools and hospitals, increment in the salary of doctors, payment of WAEC Fess and payment of tuitions of students attending public universities as some of the tangibles of the President.

He stated that the huge numbers lawmakers, who have given their support to the President, has added weight on his re-election bid owing to the constituencies these 56 Lawmakers represent in the country.
He used the occasion to call Liberians from all walks of life to support the re-election bid of the President for the country’s continued development initiatives.

Meanwhile, Minister Rennie has highlighted the official dedication of the newly constructed and renovated buildings of the Armed Forces of Liberia(AFL) across the country.

The official dedication of the newly constructed and renovated buildings of the AFL took place on Wednesday, June 14, 2023.

He said the move is in line with the President constitutional responsibilities, stressing that it would further enhance and increase accommodations for uniformed personnel including their dependents across Liberia.

He added that the dedicatory ceremony marked a significant milestone in the Government of Liberia(GoL) ongoing efforts to improve the living standards and welfare of the brave men and women of the AFL and their dependents.
