The House of Representatives will today, Tuesday, January 31, 2023 begin Budget Hearing with key Government Ministries and agencies taking the stand.
The exercise will consider revenue and expenditure components by various line ministries, agencies and commissions of Government.
The week-long exercise will be led by the House Committees on Ways, Means and Finance.
Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has warned that any ministry or agency of Government failing to attend the budget hearing will have a budgetary cut not exceeding ten-percent.
The House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the bicameral legislative branch of Liberia, and together with the Senate comprises the Legislature of Liberia. The number of seats is fixed by law at 73, with each county being apportioned a number of seats based on its percentage of the national population.
