The Head of Media and Publicity of the opposition Unity Party (UP) has assured that former Vice President Joseph Nyuma Boakai will soon name his running mate, amid mounting public concerns for him to do so.

Madam Kula Fofana, however, did not give any date that the former Vice President will be naming his running mate.
Madam Fofana disclosed that Mr. Boakai will select someone who shares his political ideology and vision for the Country.
She told ELBC Super Morning Show on Monday, April 3, 2023, that Mr. Boakai has not made commitment to anyone to be named as a running mate.
Madam Fofana explained that Mr. Boakai is holding series of consultations with other political stakeholders to select a running mate, who will ensure his win in the October 10 Presidential and Legislative Elections.
It can be recalled that following the conduct of the December 26, 2017 Presidential Runoff, former Vice President Boakai conceded defeat to former soccer star, George Manneh Weah.
In a nationwide broadcast from his party’s headquarters in Monrovia, Mr. Boakai, who was flanked by his supporters and party leaders, said he had already called Mr. Weah to congratulate him.
“I, Joseph Boakai, a man of peace, humility and with a deep faith in God hereby accept the results of the elections as announced by the National Elections Commission (NEC).
“I congratulate Ambassador Weah and pray that God will guide and empower him as he takes the onerous responsibility of steering the affairs of our nation,’’ he added.
